6 Effective Tips to learn English quickly

Jan 5, 2023 | Language learning

Learning a new language, especially English, can be a challenging but rewarding experience. Even if you don’t have much time, money or energy to spend learning a new language, by using some (or all) of the tips below, you can start learning English quickly and effectively.

1. Immerse yourself

One of the best ways to learn a new language is to surround yourself with it. A great way to do this is to go to an English speaking country, but if you’re not able to do that, then you can watch English movies and TV shows, listen to English music and podcasts and try to communicate with English speakers that you know either where you live or online.

2. Practise speaking

Speaking is a skill that many English learners don’t always have the chance to practise, however the more you speak, the more confident you will become. You can practise your speaking by joining a language class in your area or online, finding a language partner on websites like My language exchange, or by attending the free conversation class I hold 2-3 times a month. 3. Read English books and articles

One of the best ways to improve your English is by reading, as it helps to improve your vocabulary and comprehension. Start with books and articles that are easy for you to read, ideally with no more than 10 new words per page and read books and articles on topics that interest you.

4. Write often

This skill is often neglected, however by writing regularly, you are pushed to use the grammar and vocabulary you know to create sentences to express what you mean. Even writing for just 5 minutes a day is enough to help you improve your English.

5. Use language learning apps

Apps like Duolingo offer fun and short interactive lessons and activities to help you learn and practice English.

6. Be patient and persistent

Learning a new language, like any skill, takes time and effort. While at first we might feel excited and motivated, after some time that excitement and motivation starts to fade, especially when things start to get difficult. However, when that happens, don’t get discouraged. Remember why you’re learning English and keep practicing.

By following one, some, or all of the above tips, you can start learning English quickly and effectively. Remember to be patient and consistent and most importantly, have fun. The more you practice, the better your English will become. If you’d like to practice with me, get in touch about one to one lessons.
